Abstract

This paper aims to present a brief theoretical review about the phenomenon in which hyper-individualized newspapers are created due to services and platforms available online, especially social networks. Realizing that the practice has wide influence of the algorithms, the paper discusses the concepts of algocracy and informational bubble, in order to provide theoretical overviews on the aforementioned process. Without disregarding the fact that traditional journalism still has a large influence on society and seeks to survive by adapting to digital logic, we claim that it is urgent to make public what are behind the offer of these new personalization tools: data privacy, risks of illegal uses and the financialization of information.
