Abstract

This paper analyzes the journalistic discourse in Brazilian newspaper Jornal do Brasil about the political events of 1968 in Brazil. Based on a survey of keywords in printed newspaper editions from February to June 2018 and on special material about the centenary and relaunch of Jornal do Brasil in 2018, this essay seeks to analyze how the newspaper uses time more than a news value, how it uses time as a validator of a desirable public image of the periodical that is anchored in a mythical past claimed by the newspaper in self-referential narratives at the present.
